My name is Sam, and I specialise in weird stories.
Weird funny, weird horror, weird fantasy. Get your freak on, and show me.

Who’s this Sam guy, anyway?
Two thumbs and a big red beard. I’m a professional musician from the UK. By day, I run a business called Tunescribers; we create sheet music for our clients from scratch. All done by humans, for humans – no AI!
But by night… ah, by night. By night I write, and the shite I write is alright. Here are a few of my stories that you can find published out in the world:
- Everyone’s A Winner (Not Quite Write prize, 2nd place. April 2024)
- The Hilbert (published in Rat Bag Lit #1)
- The Art of Subduction NSFW (Not Quite Write prize for Flesh Fiction, “Best Blow Job” award, published in One More Short Story podcast)
- A More Different Hill (TL;DR 1k Word Herd, 4th place, August 2025; nominated for Pushcart Prize)
- Bin Boy (Not Quite Write prize, 3rd place, July 2025)
- I am the monster beneath my own bed. (published in Rat Bag Lit; nominated for Pushcart Prize)
- Pay The Rent (Writing Battle Tempest Raven, 2nd place; published in One More Short Story podcast)
Sam James edited my story for the Autumn 2025 Writing Battle and I lost. But I lost with a pretty darn good story. Thanks, Sam!
Sam James came over to my house and carved a hole in the wall. Eldritch noises are pouring through said hole, or ‘rent’, constantly.
Also he ate all the good biscuits in the house. I’m livid.

I highly recommend the editorial services of Sam James. While I always need to gird myself a little bit in preparation for his incredibly astute and frank feedback, he is, inevitably, always right. And my story always comes out much better because of it.
