Writing Battle Covers

One of my favourite parts of Writing Battle is creating cover art to go with the stories. I also like to make them for friends, and on request (free!).

Covers I’ve made for friends

Click for more detail. You will need to have an account on the Writing Battle website to read these stories; mention of their title and cover here does not constitute publishing the stories.

How do I make these covers?

I use free image sites such as Unsplash, Pixabay and Pexels to get royalty free images. I then use a free app, Affinity, to create the compositions.

I do not use AI at any part of the process, either generative or to get ideas. I will not feed your work into the plagiarism machine.

Request a cover

Some important notes:

  • I only make covers for Writing Battle stories (not books, etc)
  • I’m entirely an amateur! There are no guarantees I can fit cover requests into my schedule, or that you will like what I come up with. I may be able to do minor edits, but not full redos.
  • You are welcome to use the cover I come up with, or not. I won’t be offended.
  • I don’t charge for covers. If you’d like to contribute, please donate a few dollars to The AT Society.
  • IMPORTANT: If there is currently a peer Writing Battle running, please note that I can only make covers for the genre I am writing in myself; at least until debrief start. As of May 2026, I am in the Haunted House genre. Please do not send me any stories or details of your story if you are not in this genre.
